Food to Fall For | Sweet Potato Toast

Sweet Potato Toast featuring Betsy's Best Nut Butters

As the weather transitions from summer to fall, so should your diet. We all require different nutrients in the fall/winter versus spring/summer. Cooler temperatures cause the body to crave warmth, so loading up on warming harvest produce and seasonings help prepare the body for winter.

An even better reason to change your food regimen each season is to get out of a diet rut. We are creatures of habit who tend to eat the same foods over and over again. Changing up your diet each quarter allows a new variety of nutrients and different taste bud experiences. Also, local produce is more available when eating with the season. Autumn is synonymous with apple orchards and pumpkin patches—a great weekend activity and the perfect time to pick your local harvest.

This fall, enjoy the changing of the leaves and the foods of the season. Your body will thank you!
