Harris Teeter Welcomes Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter to Stores in Nine States

Harris Teeter stores will carry Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter.  This unique nut butter is gluten-free, certified non-GMO, and features delicious, all-natural superfood ingredients.

Betsy's Best Gourmet Almond Butter is now available at Harris Teeter

NAPLES, FL – Betsy’s Best, maker of delicious and nutritious gourmet nut and seed butters, announced today their most recent partnership with Harris Teeter, the Matthews, North Carolina based grocer. Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter is now available in Harris Teeter stores throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, Delaware, Florida and the District of Columbia.

Frustrated by the lack of healthy and good tasting nut butters, Betsy Opyt, Betsy’s Best President and CEO, took to her kitchen to make something better. Opyt, a registered dietitian, was inspired to create an all-natural nut butter that was not only good for you, but that her young daughter would love. The result is a delicious product line of gluten-free, non-GMO certified gourmet nut and seed butters with an enhanced nutrition and flavor profile.

“As a registered dietitian, I read labels closely to make sure I’m not feeding my family partially hydrogenated soybean oil, high fructose corn syrup, or trans fats,” Opyt explains. “I set out to create a delicious product that people can depend on for containing only the best ingredients. Each Betsy’s Best nut and seed butter flavor features superfood ingredients, including Himalayan pink salt, chia seeds, cinnamon and honey, sourced from responsible, honest and healthy vendors.”

The partnership with Harris Teeter aligns with the company’s current growth strategy.

“Harris Teeter is a homegrown company with a commitment to bringing fresh, innovative products to their customers,” says Opyt. “We love working with retail partners who care so much about lining their shelves with the highest quality products, because we strive everyday to provide the best possible nut and seed butters for our customers.”

Kroger to Stock Shelves with Betsy’s Best Gourmet Nut Butters

Select stores will carry Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter and Cashew Butter.  The nut butters are gluten-free, non-GMO and feature delicious, all-natural superfood ingredients.

NAPLES, FL – Betsy’s Best announced today that Kroger, one of the world’s largest grocery retailers, will soon carry two of their gourmet nut butters. The Cincinnati, Ohio, based grocer will stock Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter and Gourmet Cashew Butter in select locations across the United States.

It was a passion for health—and a bit of desperation—that led President and CEO Betsy Opyt to develop Betsy’s Best. A registered dietitian, she couldn’t find an all-natural nut or seed butter that tasted great, and she wasn’t willing to sacrifice high quality ingredients for flavor. She also had a bigger problem on her hands—a daughter who wouldn’t eat peanut butter. That’s when Betsy took to her kitchen.

“I’ve been putting a healthy twist on favorite recipes since college—my friends used to call me ‘Betsy Crocker’,” Opyt explains. “Peanut butter is an all-American staple, so school lunches and snacks were a challenge with my daughter. I started experimenting in the kitchen, combining superfoods like chia seeds and cinnamon with high quality ingredients including Himalayan pink salt and organic honey. My daughter and family loved what came out of my Vitamix® so much that I couldn’t make it fast enough!”

Betsy’s Best has no partially hydrogenated soybean oil, high fructose corn syrup, or trans fats, and they are gluten free. What they do have is all-natural, non-GMO ingredients sourced from responsible, honest and healthy vendors, and a “craveability” factor thanks to their unique flavors and textures. Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter features cinnamon, while the Cashew Butter uses cardamom for a savory taste.

In fact, Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter was recently awarded the ChefsBest Quality in Craft Award from the ChefsBest Center for Taste in San Francisco. According to ChefsBest’s Certified Master Tasters, Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond Butter’s rich texture and flavor surpassed the quality standards set at the beginning of the evaluation.

Opyt chose ingredients like cinnamon and cardamom not just for their delicious flavor, but because these superfood ingredients have amazing health benefits as well. Cinnamon helps regulate blood sugar, which is helpful for diabetes, reduces LDL cholesterol and helps alleviate arthritis pain. It’s also a good source of fiber, calcium, iron and manganese. The Indian spice cardamom is one of the healthiest herbs on the planet. Related to ginger, cardamom combats nausea, acidity, bloating, gas, heartburn, loss of appetite, constipation and much more. It also helps the body eliminate waste through the kidneys.

After working so diligently to create a product that is just as delicious as it is healthy, Opyt couldn’t be more excited about joining the Kroger family.

“Kroger was built by a man whose motto was ‘Be particular. Never sell anything you would not want yourself’,” says Opyt. “We feel the same way at Betsy’s Best which is why we’re excited for this retail partnership. Barney Kroger changed the way Americans buy groceries, and we’re honored to be affiliated with such an innovative and reputable grocer.”

Betsy’s Best—A Gourmet Nut and Seed Butter Company Created by Former Miss Indiana—Hits Shelves at Marsh Supermarkets

NAPLES, FL – Betsy’s Best, maker of delicious and nutritious gourmet nut and seed butters, announced today their most recent partnership with Marsh Supermarkets, the Indianapolis, Indiana, based grocer. Betsy’s Best Gourmet Almond and Peanut Butters are now available in select Marsh locations throughout Indiana.

Although this is the first grocery chain in Indiana to sell Betsy’s Best, President and CEO Betsy Opyt is no stranger to the state. A native of Peru, Indiana, and a Ball State University graduate with a degree in dietetics, Opyt was crowned Miss Indiana in 2000. During her reign, she traveled the state on behalf of the Indiana Department of Education to teach children about the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

It is her lifelong interest in nutrition that inspired Opyt to create Betsy’s Best. Frustrated by the lack of healthy, great tasting nut butters available, Betsy was motivated to create an all-natural alternative that she felt good about feeding her daughter.

“As a registered dietitian, I know what all those hard to pronounce words on a label mean,” Opyt explains. “But you don’t need a certification to know that partially hydrogenated soybean oil, high fructose corn syrup, and trans fats aren’t good for you. I set out to make nut and seed butters with tasty and healthy ingredients that my family loves to eat.”

The recipes she concocted in her Vitamix® became Betsy’s Best. Each flavor features all natural and delicious non-GMO ingredients, including Himalayan pink salt, chia seeds, cinnamon and honey, sourced from responsible, honest and healthy vendors. All of the products are gluten free.

“We sold our first jar of Betsy’s Best at a farmer’s market in Naples,” said Opyt. “Now we’re in stores throughout the country, but launching in Indiana is the icing on the peanut butter cake. It’s a homecoming for me, and I couldn’t be more honored to introduce Betsy’s Best to my fellow Hoosiers in partnership with Marsh. Their commitment to quality and community support is inspiring. We couldn’t be happier to find a retail partner whose principles align so closely with our own.”

Marsh shares the sentiment.

“We’re excited to work with a company that has such deep roots in Indiana,” says Mary Lovell, Grocery Business Manager. “Betsy has created a delicious product made with the finest ingredients, and we think our shoppers will love it just as much as we do. Our goal is to provide the best selection of products for our customers, and Betsy’s Best is another great addition to the Marsh family.”
